Dr Tan Siow Wei is a consultant oculoplastic surgeon accredited by the Ministry of Health of Malaysia. In 1999 she graduated as the top student in her class from the Medical Faculty of the National University of Malaysia (UKM) with numerous academic awards. She completed her ophthalmology specialist training and was conferred Masters of Surgery in Ophthalmology from the National University of Malaysia in 2007. This was followed by subspecialty training in oculoplastic surgery, which included a year of Fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery in the prestigious Singapore National Eye Centre. She was awarded the Malaysian Certificate of Completion in Fellowship Training (CCFT) in Oculoplastic, Orbit and lacrimal Surgery and also holds a Certificate in Aesthetic Medicine from the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine.
Dr Tan Siow Wei practices general ophthalmology in areas of cataract surgery, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macula degeneration and glaucoma screening. Her clinical interest is in the area of oculoplastic and aesthetic surgery, lacrimal and orbital disorders. She has a wide surgical repertoire, which include rejuvenation of the eyelids and periorbital areas via both surgical and non-surgical means, lacrimal diseases such as tear duct abnormality (tearing), orbital diseases including thyroid eye disease, trauma-related disorders such as orbital wall fracture, eyelid or canalicular lacerations and eyelid/orbital tumour management and reconstructive procedures in both adults and children.
On top of her clinical work, Dr Tan believes in guiding the next generation of ophthalmologists and oculoplastic surgeons. She is involved with mentoring and guiding ophthalmologists-in-training who are based in local public hospitals as well as having served as examiner for the Malaysian Certificate of Completion in Fellowship Training (CCFT) in Oculoplastic Surgery programme.
Known for her meticulous attention to detail and keen eye for aesthetics, she is assisted by a team of equally dedicated staff at Indah Specialist Eye Centre to deliver only the highest level of care to patients in a private and cosy environment.
