Dr. Vincent Wong is a Consultant Psychiatrist (王 忠 威 心 理 精 神 专 科 医 生), who is registered with the Malaysian Medical Council and National Specialist Register.

He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from University Malaya ( Petaling Jaya ) and Postgraduate in Psychiatry from University Kebangsaan Malaysia.

Dr. Vincent speaks well in English, Mandarin (中文), Cantonese and Bahasa Malaysia.

He helps people who has emotional or mental health issues. He believes that mental health is an important component of holistic health.

As a mental health professional, He believes that individual privacy and confidentiality are of utmost importance.He also believes that everyone deserves to have a good quality of life and enjoy good health…be it physical, emotional, social or spiritual.

In 2008, He was given the task to be the Head of Department (Psychiatry) in Hospital Muar.

He has also contributed his expertise in the educational sector. Between 2008 and 2010, he served as the honorary lecturer for Melaka Manipal Medical College ( MMMC ) and from 2011 – 2012, he was the honorary lecturer at the Management and Science University (MSU).

In his years as a psychiatrist, he has given numerous public talks which covers various mental health issues such as:

a) Stress Management,
b) Anxiety disorder,
c) Depressive disorder,
d) Suicide Prevention,
e) Mental health in young people,
f) Mental Heath in Old Age,
g) Addiction issues,
h) And other mental health related conditions.

The following are some of the talks that he had delivered:

  • In 2004-2012, He had given several public talks by organization such as the Tzu Chi Malaysia, Churches and NGOs on the topic of understanding and helping people suffering from mental illness.
  • In 2009. spoken at a public forum on Suicide Prevention organized by the MINDA Malaysia ( A Society for National Mental Health Advocacy ) Muar, Johor.
  • Public talk on Management of Anxiety and depression at the Mental Health Promotion which is organized by the Federal Territory( Kuala Lumpur ) Department of Health in conjunction with the World Mental Health Day on the 10 Oct 2010.
  • 2010-2011 Given talk on Stress Management for corporate sectors in Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur.
  • In 2012, given a talk during a public forum organized by the Society of Hope for the Youth ( Klang ) entitled Mental Health for the Youth.

From 2010-2011, he was the coordinator for family support group the Malaysia Mental Health Association.

This is a platform for family members to come together to share their experiences and offer each other support as they face daily challenges in helping their loved ones to recover from mental illness.

In the Malaysia Psychiatric Association (MPA), he held these roles:

  • Sat in the Editorial board for publishing Newsletters since 2010. The MPA newsletter is a platform for discussions and sharing on issues regarding mental health.
  • Ex-Vice President of the Early Career Psychiatrist Committee. His role was to organize programs to increase public awareness about mental health and mental illness e.g.
    – Depression Awareness Day ( Petaling Jaya ), 12 May 2011,2011
    – Schizophrenia Awareness Day( Kuala Lumpur ) on the 18 Sept 2010.2010

  • 王医生于2010年10月10日的世界心理精神日,由吉隆坡的Federal Territory主办的增进心理精神健康活动上,演讲有关焦虑症及忧郁症的讲座。
  • 王医生于2010年至2011年在八打灵再也和吉隆坡的非政府商业领域给予有关压力、情绪管理及讲座。
  • 王医生于2012年,在Societyof Hope 主办的讲座上讲解有关青少年心理精神的课题。

年至2011年,他是大马心理精神协会病患家属的协调员。

这是帮助病患家属在面对心理精神病症的一个平台,以便大家能互相扶持,互相鼓励,帮助病患家属从心理精神病症解脱出来。
